The Thomas Hart Middle School Chess Club and Carden West are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Tri-Valley Chess Tournament!  

The Thomas Hart Chess Club and Carden West School are pleased to sponsor the Tri-Valley's First Annual Chess Tournament.  This chess tournament is open to any Tri-Valley student grades 1-8.  This tournament is a "Swiss" style tournament, where players are progressively matched up with other players closer to their levels, and are ranked on a scoring system based on wins, losses and draws.  So even if you lose your first match, you won't be eliminated from the competition.

This tournament is open to all levels - however, this is not a chess class, and a basic understanding of the rules of chess is expected.    

Please note this is not a rated or USCF-sponsored event.

We will also be using basic tournament rules, including touch move and chess clocks.  (Note: We will not be notating / recording these games;  however players are welcome to record their own games if they wish)

Snacks, prizes and trophies will be provided.

Entry tickets are $7 plus processing in advance or $10 at the door, space permitting.  Please note that we are limited to 40 entrants, so students will be entered on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will be two divisions:

Junior: Grades 1-5

Middle: Grades 6-8

This event is a great way to let your child compete in a friendly chess tournament and meet other local chess players.  We hope to see you there!
